My experiences during my undergraduate studies and beyond into employment continue to teach me the value of helping the local community and being immersed within it. My experiences have illustrated a desire to use my GIS skills to help within the local community and use them to branch outside of the physical geography aspects and look at things through a medical geography lens. In my previous experiences and employment, I enjoyed working in a non-profit organization atmosphere, as my values align with these types of organizations.

 
In my current role, I am able to achieve my desire of working in Boone as a Long-Range/Special Projects Planner. My education goals include future possibilities of seeking my Master's degree since I am an alumna of Appalachian State since December 2020. Currently, I am eager to use my Planning and GIS abilities in my role with the Town of Boone Planning Department.
